The Seychelles Review was first published in 1994. It was an initiative of the Founding President of the Republic of Seychelles, Sir James R. Mancham, KBE and became his mouthpiece for his philosophy of national reconciliation for Seychelles.
The monthly magazine therefore avoids partisan politics and focuses on the need for the nation to work together in harmony and unity. Under this philosophy the articles featuring in the Seychelles Review mostly deals with such subjects as tourism and economic development, nature conservation and global warming, sports and cultural activities as well as focusing from the international standpoint on the geo-politics which is being played by the great powers in the region. The Review also deals with the leisure industries and real estates development in Seychelles.
It is published by Mahé Publications under the chairmanship of Sir James R. Mancham, and it is edited by Mr. Roland Hoarau. Mr. Derek Pothin is the Marketing Director and Mr. Bernard Racombo is the advertising agent. The magazine comes out 10 times a year with 2 of its issues being double issues (National Day issue – June / July and Christmas / New Year issue – November / December). Whilst there is a subscription facility for those who wish to ensure receipt of each issue the bulk of the Review are freely distributed at hotels and public points all over Seychelles.
The Review has launched its website to provide the magazine with an international dimension.
