THE MANAGERS OF LE MÉRIDIEN SEYCHELLES – MR DIETMAR
KOEGERL OF FISHERMAN’S COVE AND MR PIERRE DELPLACE OF
BARBARONS JOINTLY ANSWERED OUR QUESTIONS
Seychelles Review: Last week, the whole talk of Mahé was about the Miss Intercontinental Beauty Pageant. Now, that it is over, Mahé seems to be in an anti-climax mood. Are you also in a similar mood – with a certain feelings of nostalgy that all the beautiful girls which you had around you have now departed for home?
It was indeed a pleasure to have the most beautiful women around the globe at our hotels which certainly enhanced the entire atmosphere. Feedback from our associates as well as our clients was exceptional due to the fact that they were not only beautiful, they were also very friendly combined with a pleasant outgoing personality.
S.R.: Many people who participated at previous Beauty Pageants are of the opinion that it would have been better if the event had taken place at Le Meridien Barbarons Hotel itself, as the atmosphere at the International Conference Centre is not too conducive to a relaxing mood. What are your comments on this?
We were discussing this issue over and over and we are more than happy today that the pageant was held at ICCS. As it is a show and not a sit down dinner we emphasized on the following:
- Perfect lighting
- Perfect Sound
- Massive stage
- Sitting and view
These are the components which make a show successful or not.
S.R.: You were a judge at this event. No one doubts your qualification in this respect, especially after staging Miss Barbarons contest. What criteria were utilized to appoint the other judges?
We have been nominated by WBO and were forming a part of the Pre Judging Team who basically had 3 minutes time for each contestant to ask question in order to get an insight of each and every girl.
S.R.: In the final analysis, did you, yourself vote for Miss Lebanon as this year’s Miss Intercontinental? If not, could you tell us who your choice was?
Miss Lebanon was from day one our favorite as apart from her beauty she got also sex appeal and Intelligence. However taste is subjective and everyone got his own favorite among our Meridien Associates.
S.R.: It would appear that without the support of the Meridien Group, Miss Intercontinental 2007 would not have materialized. Le Meridien Fisherman’s Cove and Le Meridien Barbarons provided accommodation for most of the con-testants and those involved in organizing the event. What would be your reaction if tomorrow the organizers of Miss World and Miss Universe were interested to hold their contest in Seychelles?
Would you be able to extend similar patronage?
Absolutely, I see such events as a great marketing tool and it will help us further to promote the beautiful Seychelles Islands as well as the Le Meridien Group. Seychelles is predestined for such events as beautiful environment and beauty pageants match perfectly together. Needless to say that Meridien would fully support any other upcoming international event
S.R.: Would you tell us what size of an international audience the event has had?
As far as I know at least 280 Million people are expected to watch the pageant in the Fashion TV Channel and we expect another 200 Million in other Channels.
