LUCKNOW DECLARATION 2007

Mr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder of the famous Montessori School has declared himself very
satisfied with the Lucknow Declaration 2007 which was signed by some 48 Chief Justices of many Nations as well as several former Chief Justices and Judges of India, who had assembled at the invitation of Mr Gandhi for the 8th Chief Justices of the World.The City of Montessori School is famous for (i) UNESCO Prize for Peace Education 2002 (ii) Nuclear-Free Future
Special Achievement Award 2004 (iii) World’s Children’s Prize 2004 for Rights of the Child  (iv) Changemakers Innovations Award 2005 & Recognized by Guinness Book of World records  as world’s largest school by pupils with 32,000 students & organizer of 24 international  events regularly for promoting World Unity and World Peace.
We reproduce below copy of the Lucknow Declaration 2007 signed by the Judges.

WE, the Judges assembled at the 8th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World held at Lucknow, India from 8th to the 10th December 2007, having considered the appeal by the 32,000 children of City Montessori School – on their own behalf and on behalf of the world’s children – for a safe and protected environment and a peaceful world governed by enforceable international law:
Reaffirm our support to the call of the student of City Montessori School, prestige and power of the United Nations in order to make both institutions more effective instruments for preventing wars, resolving international disputes, countering terrorism, ensuring total nuclear disbarment, conserving and protecting the environment and furthering peace and harmony;

Affirm our belief that the resources currently used in wars and in the manufacture and maintenance of weapons of mass destruction should be redirected for the purpose of eliminating poverty, conserving the environment and advancing the welfare of mankind in general and on children in particular;
Declare that peace education should be given priority in education curricula and that every effort must be made to increase the level of awareness and information about international law and about fundamental human rights, human values and economic and social rights in the training of lawyers and judges as well as every level of education;

Undertake (i) to take effective action whenever the occasion arises to protect and promote the best interests of children, giving full effect to all applicable principles of domestic and international law; (ii) to promote, as and whenever occasion arises, respect for the dignity of the person, which is the basis of all fundamental human rights and freedoms; and (iii) to promote true respect for all religions;
Request the Convenor of the Conference and Founder-Manager of City Montessori School and the General Secretary of City Montessori School and General Secretary of the 8th Conference of Chief Justices of the World (i) to transmit this Declaration to the Secretary General of the United Nations Org-anisation for its consideration, and (ii) to send copies of this Declaration to all Heads of Gov-ernments for consideration and implementa-tion by the authorities concerned, with a req-uest for the favour of their comments or reply in anticipation of the 9th International Confe-rence of Chief Justices of the World proposed to be held by the end of the year 2008.
