THE start of the industrial tuna purse seining activity in Seychelles in the early 80s was to greatly improve the economic situation of the country and to transform the physical landscape of Port Victoria; Seychelles having been blessed with a unique situation in the middle of rich tuna fishing grounds.

A press release dated Manama, Bahrain on the 19th of May 2008, announced the appointment of Mr Frank Hoareau as the Managing Director of its new offshore banking business in Seychelles – the BMI Offshore Bank. Until recently, Mr Hoareau was the Managing Director of Barclays Seychelles.

THE Rotary National Fishing Tournament now in its 30th year, was held this year in the weekend of 11th-12th April against the background of sponsorship by 38 local companies. The event raised some Sr.110,000 towards the new Hospice Building Project at North East Point.
